Explorer Tour

View Port Phillip Heads from a new perspective and explore areas only accessible by boat. This is a diverse and dynamic tour which changes to compliment the weather conditions. It’s an unforgettable two and half hour round trip which explores Southern Port Phillip Bay. As we exit the harbour and head towards the Point Lonsdale lighthouse, we will explain the shipwreck history of the past, and the present day technology and services in place to assist ships entering and exiting Port Phillip Bay.  At the Point Lonsdale lighthouse we will explore the western and eastern reefs of the Rip. Screens on board the boat allow real time rendered images of the sea floor to be viewed from the comfort of your seat.

If weather conditions permit we will safely venture out through the Rip enlightening you about the waters and why it is so treacherous. We will head along sandstone escarpments of the east coast to Cheviot Beach, viewing pieces of maritime history along the way. Upon re-entering the Rip, we pass Point Nepean and head into Nepean Bay. Along the bay sits many military fortifications which protected Melbourne during the World Wars.

We continue along the Mornington Peninsula into the dolphin sanctuary and past the Portsea Quarantine Station, and the exclusive waterfront residences along Sorrento. As we near the end of the two and half hours we will return via the Australian Fur Seal haul out and Australasian Gannet colony.
